Noisy Carrier Modulation for HF RFID

چکیده

Radio-frequency tokens are vulnerable to eavesdropping. Several schemes have been proposed that use additional devices to generate cover noise, or bit collisions, in order to protect communication between a reader and a token. I discuss the practical weaknesses in current bit-blocking schemes and propose an alternative implementation where the tokens modulate their reply onto a noisy carrier provided by the reader. I believe that this modification resolves some weaknesses of bit-blocking protocols and is also easier to implement as it does not require additional blocking devices. This method can also be used to simply add noise to the backward communication channel in order to complicate the recovery of eavesdropped data.

Optimised Inductively Coupled Reader Antennas for Smart HF RFID Systems

The Internet of things (IoT) refers to uniquely identifiable objects and their virtual representations in an Internet-like structure to be managed and inventoried by computers. Radio-frequency identification (RFID)-a prerequisite for the IoT-is an automatic way for data transaction in object identification and is used to improve automation, inventory control and checkout operations. An RFID sys...

Alternative RFID based Architectures for Mobile HCI with Physical Objects

High Frequency (HF) passive Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) is currently a widely adopted technology for mobile HCI with physical objects. Prototypes, pilot projects and industrial systems have been developed in a number of areas mostly following an approach in which RFID tags are either attached to mobile real world entities or carried by mobile users, whilst RFID readers are static and ...

Flexible Simulation and Prototyping for RFID Designs

This paper presents a flexible RFID simulation and prototyping system supporting both the 13.56MHz domain and the 868MHz domain, further referred to as HF and UHF domain, as well as several standards within these two frequency domains. The proposed prototyping system consists of an exchangeable analog RF front end supporting either HF or UHF, a protocol stack running on a DSP and a signal proce...

Design and Performance Analysis of 7-Level Diode Clamped Multilevel Inverter Using Modified Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation Techniques

In this paper, a 7-level Diode Clamped Multilevel Inverter (DCMLI) is simulated with three different carrier PWM techniques. Here, Carrier based Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM), Third Harmonic Injected Pulse Width Modulation (THIPWM) and Modified Carrier-Based Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) are used as modulation strategies. These modulation strategies include Phase Dispos...

Systematic Design of High-Performance Smart Card with HF/UHF Dual-Band RFID Tag

Recently, there have been widely conducted researches on dual-band radio frequency identification (RFID) tag based on 13.56 MHz (HF) and 900 MHz (UHF). Most dual-band RFID tag has been implemented so that each antenna is separated in a different inlay sheet respectively, which makes the resulting smart card impractically thick, and the typical drawback of dual-band RFID tags incorporated in one...
